Just like you go to sports practice to exercise your muscles, you come to class to exercise your brain. In practice you learn a lot of plays so that you will be prepared for anything the other team throws at you. You may or may not use every single one in the big game. In this class, I’m going to teach you many things you will use and many things you won’t. Since I can’t see the future, I want you to be prepared for whatever life brings. In practice, you do some things just to get faster, stronger. You never ask your coach, “When am I going to run suicides in the big game?” You trust that he’s asking you to do it to make you better. Sometimes I may ask you to do things just to make you better, smarter. I need you to trust me too.
